Online Banking with Safe Money Technology

Based on Host-based Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS) and Self-Defense technologies, Safe Money allows you to protect online financial transactions from phishing, man-in-the-middle (MITM) and other attacks by performing browser processes in the secured container.

Safe Money technology allows users to benefit from protected and secure critical operations by means of browser. Safe Money is part of Kaspersky Lab’s multi-layered, next generation approach to protection of online payments and purchases.

Safe Money technology stack includes:

  • HIPS/SelfDefence – to protect against rootkits, process injection, remote control, screenshot taking
  • Integrity Control – to protect against untrusted module upload, and memory scan for malware code and vulnerabilities presence
  • TrafficProcessing: AntiPhishing – to protect against phishing, SpearPhishing, compromized URLs
  • TrafficProcessing: ContentFiltering – for certificate verification, session consistency control, automatic secure browser start
  • SecureInput – to protect against input interception, and to provide virtual keyboard

Safe Money is based on Host-based Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS) and SelfDefense technologies, which allow you to put browser process into a secured container. The container prevents attempts of malicious code injection into the browser process (a man-in-the-browser (MITB) attack) and prevents loading of malicious add-ons/extensions into browser.

During working of Safe Browser, Integrity Control scans memory of browser process for presence of untrusted modules and malicious code.

The end-user is not limited by the requirement to use a specific browser, either provided or just selected by a security vendor. Safe Money supports most popular browsers, so the risk of forgetting to open the secure browser during online payments is eliminated.

While the user surfs the web, Safe Money uses content filtering technology to protect against phishing and man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks by verification certificate for “untrusted” status and URL for compromised/trusted status in Kaspersky Security Network (KSN).

SecureInput is a technology used to protect critical personal data entered on web forms on web-banking pages (account data, etc). It protects against entered data interception by keyboard loggers (keyloggers) and also provides the ability to use a virtual screen keyboard for maximum protection.

Safe Money protects data entered inside and/or displayed in Secure Browser by preventing remote browser and product manipulation and screenshot taking. The attacker will not be able to watch user actions to see sensitive data like bank account operations, balance, purchases, etc.

Safe Money starts automatically on visiting online shops, banking websites and e-commerce sites and does not require additional actions from the user. The list of supported web-resources is updated regularly. Also, the user is able to add his favourite resource to protect all the activities when visiting it.
