May 30, 2024

The Cyber Defense Center in Oman and Kaspersky signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote cooperation and conduct exchanges in ICT-cybersecurity related fields, paying particular attention to national cooperation and education. The MoU was signed by the Head of the Cyber Defense Centre and the Managing Director for Middle East, Turkey and Africa at Kaspersky during COMEX 2024.

Through this agreement, Oman Cyber Defense Center and Kaspersky will collaborate to exchange knowledge on security risks and the spread of malware. Kaspersky will provide advisory information to assist in the investigation and elimination of cybersecurity incidents. The collaboration also entails sharing indicators of compromise and providing information on promising solutions in the cyber field.

Education is another significant aspect of this agreement. The Cyber Defense Center and Kaspersky will implement and organize awareness-building, educational programs and promote scientific and technological research. Technical workshops, conferences, educational visits and trainings will be conducted to boost awareness of potential threats across all sectors.

Engineer Khamis Al Hajri from the Cyber Defense Center said: “The ICT industry in Oman has opened up new windows of opportunity. With such developments, it is inevitable that the country will face new types of threats. They are inherently sophisticated and need to be firmly dealt with. In order to promote a secure, global information society, it is crucial to establish collaborations with industry-leading partners who have the capabilities to deal with information security threats. This MoU with Kaspersky is an important step-forward.”

“Our collaborative efforts will importantly help to stimulate business and economic growth. Strong awareness of the cybersecurity field in Oman will provide vital protection against cyber criminals and their threats. Kaspersky is proud to contribute its long-standing expertise towards a cooperative, transformative future in Oman. This agreement with the Cyber Defense Center not only serves to advise and educate, it also provides an exemplary model for other nations and businesses to exchange valuable knowledge”. explained Toufic Derbass, Managing Director for Middle East, Turkey and Africa at Kaspersky.
