Kaspersky Lab Int. celebrates its third anniversary
On July 21st Kaspersky Lab Int., an international anti-virus software development company celebrates its third anniversary!
In 1997, the anti-virus department of "Kami" corporation headed by Eugene Kaspersky and Natalya Kaspersky decided to separate and found Kaspersky Lab - a new company dedicated exclusively to further the development and marketing of AntiViral Toolkit Pro (AVP).
In only three years Kaspersky Lab demonstrated what the highly qualified team of professionals was capable of achieving. The company succeeded to enter and continues to invade the extremely competitive global anti-virus market. Kaspersky Lab's domestic growth figures are even more impressive. AVP started to be commercially distributed in 1994 when the local Russian market was totally dominated (85% market share) by another anti-virus vendor. According to official statistics in 1999 more than 50% of Russian corporate and individual users chose the reliability and effectiveness of Kaspersky Lab anti-virus software.
Kaspersky Lab has become one of the world leaders in the development of cutting-edge anti-virus technology. Its excellence is illustrated by the number of anti-virus companies that licensed AVP engine for use in their products inter alia F-Secure, G-Data and Vintage Solutions. The company was the first to develop a comprehensive anti-virus defence system for Linux, FreeBSD, BSDi Unix operating systems, as well as for the most popular Unix-based e-mail gateways such as Sendmail and Qmail. In 1999 Kaspersky Lab announced a new unique anti-virus product based on breakthrough principles of behaviour blocker, which was integrated into MS Office 2000. Thanks to the unique improved heuristic code analyser to combat against unknown viruses AVP stopped proliferation of all known "LoveLetter"-style viruses that flooded the Internet in May affecting more than 40 million of computers all around the world.
Nowadays Kaspersky Lab offers its users not only best-of-breed anti-virus software, which face the highest industry standards, but also a friendly user-oriented round-the-clock technical support and customer care. "Anti-virus protection itself is no more all-sufficient. Without the appropriate level of aftersales service the software is loosing its attractiveness," - said Michael Kalinichenko, Kaspersky Lab Technical Director "Considering this we are constantly improving our technical support department, which now allows users to make their inquiries at any time by phone and e-mail. Additionally we provide daily updates of AVP anti-virus database, which allows users to fight even against newborn viruses."
"Three years of developing the business has shown the advantages of Kaspersky Lab anti-virus technology and our customer-oriented business model based on personal attention to every client," said Natalya Kaspersky, Kaspersky Lab CEO. "At the same time we would not be able to achieve such an impressive results without very helpful support of our users and partners. On behalf of all at Kaspersky Lab I would like to express our gratitude to all our users and partners."
