Kaspersky Lab signs major sponsorship deal with AFL’s Melbourne Demons

Kaspersky Lab announces multi-million dollar, three-year sponsorship deal with Australian football club, Melbourne Demons.

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management systems, announces a three-year multi-million dollar sponsorship deal with the AFL’s Melbourne Football Club.

The agreement between Kaspersky Lab and the Melbourne Football Club, also known as the Demons, includes signage, coach’s sponsorship, website advertising, corporate hospitality and other match day benefits. The Kaspersky Lab logo will be seen most prominently on the back of the players’ jerseys.

Kaspersky Lab is joining with the Melbourne Football Club in order to establish its presence in Australia as a trusted IT security brand. Kaspersky Lab has recently established regional offices in the Docklands precinct of Melbourne and plans to significantly expand its Australian operations in the next few years.

“Kaspersky Lab is the fastest growing internet security company in the world. They are number one in China, top two in the US market, and expect to be number one in Australia in the not too distant future – not unlike the ambitions of the Melbourne Football Club,” said Melbourne Football Club Chief Executive Cameron Schwab.

Kaspersky Lab executives who attended the announcement at a press conference in Melbourne said they were excited about the brand promotion benefits for the company.

“This is the first ever major sports team sponsorship that Kaspersky Lab has entered into, which is a strong indication of our commitment to growing our business here in Australia,” said Harry Cheung, Kaspersky Lab’s Managing Director in the Asia-Pacific region. “Kaspersky Lab believes that as well as having a proud tradition as a foundation club in the AFL, the Demons have a bright future and we look forward to providing them with the financial support they need to ensure the team achieves its goals – both on and off the field.”

Alexey Gromyko, Managing Director of Kaspersky Lab in Australia and New Zealand, echoed Cheung’s sentiments, saying, “Kaspersky Lab is delighted to secure this partnership with the Melbourne Football Club and we look forward to becoming part of the great community and tradition of the Demons. Kaspersky Lab is a world leader in providing Internet protection software to consumers and businesses all over the world, and we believe our association with the Melbourne Demons will allow us to build our brand presence in the Australian market.”

President Jim Stynes pointed to the correlations between the two organisations, saying that “the team is young and full of energy, as is Kaspersky Lab. Our defenders are the backbone of our team, just as Kaspersky Lab is the backbone of the IT security world. We see our partnership with Kaspersky Lab as a great brand fit, as they share our values of teamwork, respect, loyalty and community.”
