Experts from Kaspersky Lab, participating in the 7th IDC CIO Summit in Dubai, UAE, on February 24-25, will talk about the evolving threat landscape both in the region and globally. They will also reveal more about “The Mask”, a recently discovered targeted attack, discuss critical issues for CIOs such as mobile protection, and how to stay safe from advanced persistent threats, cyber fraud, etc.

“With 315,000 new malicious programs detected every day, we are increasingly prone to cybercrimes that can be devastating to firms and individuals; this calls for extensive security policies. CIOs must also be aware of external as well as internal threats in order to keep organizations safe,” commented Mohamad Amin Hasbini, Senior Security Researcher, Global Research & Analysis Team, Kaspersky Lab.

The theme of this year’s summit is ‘Being a CIO in the New Business World of Tech+ Transformation’, and brings together the region's top 100+ CIOs to acquire distilled and compact insights into IT strategies, emerging technologies, and best practices that have direct implications on their businesses.

On 24 February at 15:30 during plenary discussion Mohamad Amin Hasbini will shed light on the massive cyber espionage operation that uncovered “The Mask” which has infected computers across 27 countries, including those in the Middle East and Africa. He will also stress the safety measures that are required to ensure businesses are always protected against cybercriminal activity.

Kaspersky Lab representatives will be available at the summit at stand #27 to discuss the company’s latest award-winning solutions and help CIOs and IT security professionals proactively counter the surge in targeted attacks in the region.

"Given the increase in threats in the region as a whole, CIOs in the region are now looking at advanced security solutions and practices so as to sustain their organizations and mitigate attacks. The overall security software in the GCC itself is expected to grow at an overall CAGR of 14.8% to reach USD 326.95 million in 2017 is reflective of how important security is for organizations in the region." said Megha Kumar Research Manager - Software, IDC MEA.
