Kaspersky Lab will hold the final round of the international student conference ‘IT Security for the Next Generation’ on 14–15 April, 2011
Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content and threat management solutions, will hold the final round of the international student conference ‘IT Security for the Next Generation’ on 14–15 April, 2011. The event will take place in Garching, Germany, in the Informatics Department of the Technische Universität München.
Kaspersky Lab’s initiative brings together IT security professionals from around the globe, broadening young programmers’ professional horizons and attracting the brightest upcoming talent to the fight against IT threats. The event will be attended by some 150 undergraduate and postgraduate students, lecturers and scientists from leading colleges worldwide, as well as experts from Kaspersky Lab, journalists and other guests.
The ‘IT Security for the Next Generation’ event is organized as part of the Kaspersky Academy’s educational initiative. The conference will see the winners of the three previous rounds, held in Europe, Asia-Pacific/MEA and Russia and the CIS, compete for the top prize. The conference’s panel is made up of a number of university professors and Kaspersky Lab experts to whom the students and young specialists will once again present their winning IT Security R&D projects. Their presentations have already proven to be good enough to win them a place in the final round of ‘IT Security for the Next Generation’, now it is down to the panel to judge which is the best-of-the-best. Winners of the following categories will be announced at the conference:
Technical nominations:
- Trends in the development of anti-spam technologies – methods, techniques and innovations employed in the ‘arms race’ with spammers
- Dangers of an ever more Internet-connected world
- Cloud-based protection
- Advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, fuzzy logic systems, peering networks, etc., for detecting and neutralizing threats
Nominations in social sciences, economics and law:
- New threats (protection of social networks, integrated systems, mobile devices, online banking, etc.)
- Aims and capabilities of IT security companies within the next 10 years
- The impact of technologies on the protection of personal and commercial data, copyright material and legislation
The prize is €3,500, plus the opportunity of an internship at the company or a visit to a professional Information Security conference together with the company’s experts.
