Amazon going after influencers hawking bootlegs goods, COVID-19 researchers under attack, ransomware hitting Capcom, and more

We couldn’t take a hiatus from COVID-19 for the 172nd edition of the Kaspersky Transatlantic Cable podcast. We kick off this episode with Microsoft fingering two nation states targeting virus researchers for some cyberespionage.

That’s unfortunate, but I would be lying if I said I was surprised. Maybe I am cynical, but crooks are opportunistic.

After we talk about the Covid-related attacks, we jump over to another hot topic: ransomware. In this instance, we look at an attack on Capcom in which criminals siphoned off passport info, signatures, and other personally identifying information. The third story of the pod looks at how Amazon is going after Instagram and TikTok bloggers for hawking bootleg goods.

We end on a happier note with a look at how some companies are helping other companies plan virtual holiday parties to keep their staff engaged.
