Nowadays, free public Wi-Fi is available almost everywhere in our cities. We can access the Web from the streets to the subway and buses, not to mention venues ranging from hotels to Starbucks. Quite frequently, you don\u2019t even need a password \u2014 connect and use, that\u2019s it. Very cool and handy in practice, but unfortunately\u00a0it also plays into the hands of cybercriminals<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With the prevalence of these free networks, criminals set up fake free Wi-Fi networks \u2013 the price you pay is that\u00a0they steal your login credentials<\/a>. Since it is difficult to spot these fake free networks, the best advice is to avoid using public Wi-Fi at all and connect to the Internet from home or via mobile. While this is our best advice, it is not practical in every circumstance or situation. So let\u2019s think of how you can protect yourself from this threat.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0Never trust open Wi-Fi networks that require no passwords<\/strong>. Cybercriminals often\u00a0create such networks to sniff<\/a>\u00a0users personal data.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Networks with passwords are not fully reliable<\/strong>\u00a0as well. A criminal can easily find out the password, which is used in a cafe or a shopping mall, and create a fake Wi-Fi hotspot with the same name.<\/p>\n
