The Queen\u2019s Gambit<\/em> on Netflix has taken the world by storm, no doubt about it. In this upside-down year packed with COVID-19 craziness, it is kind of fitting that a show based on a cerebral game is garnering so much attention.<\/p>\n

At Kaspersky, we have a long history with chess and are the official cybersecurity partner of the FIDE World Chess Championship series. A member of our PR team pitched me the idea of watching the show as part of a podcast. I was skeptical about its fit for the weekly chats Dave and I have, but my friend Oksana noted some angles that my amateur chess mind had not considered.<\/p>\n

You see, my dear Russian friend had an idea that really was too good to pass up. Instead of our usual Transatlantic Cable<\/em><\/a> format, Dave and I welcomed noted chess lover Costin Raiu \u2014 who you may know from his research work at Kaspersky \u2014 and International Master and Women\u2019s Grandmaster, four-time World Chess Champion, and Asian Women\u2019s Champion Dinara Saduakassova.<\/p>\n

During our 30-plus minute chat, we discuss everything from the Beth Harmon character to international chess tournaments, getting kids involved with the games, stopping cheating, and computers\u2019 impact on the game.<\/p>\n
