For episode 131 of the Kaspersky Transatlantic Cable<\/em> podcast<\/a>, Dave and I are all about the idioms and lolz \u2014 kind of (you\u2019ll have to give a listen). To start things off, we take a look at a US natural gas company that is in the news for the wrong reasons.<\/p>\n

In this story, the company was closed for two days following a ransomware attack. Ransomware is nothing new to readers of this blog, but maybe it was to the company \u2014 the government assessment notes that the plant was not prepared for a cyberattack as part of an emergency.<\/p>\n\n

From there we head across the US, where Ring has made the use of 2-factor authentication<\/a> obligatory for users. Most should be happy with the additional step towards privacy, although some naysayers are still out there. For the third story of the week, we look at how Puerto Rico\u2019s government was swindled out of a few million dollars in a phishing scheme.<\/p>\n

As a follow-up from last week\u2019s podcast<\/a>, we take a look at the EU\u2019s response to Facebook\u2019s call for regulations on fake news and politically driven advertisements. To close out the podcast, we discuss the latest victim of OurMine, FC Barcelona.<\/p>\n
